Joke !

When Stalin completed 25 years of his rule over Russia, he wanted a special postage stamp issued, with his picture on it.

He so instructed the Postmaster General, stressing that it should be of international quality.

The stamps were duly released of the stamp, he began hearing complaints that the stamp was not sticking properly, and become furious. He called the chief of the Secret Service and ordered him to investigate the matter.

The chief checked the matter out at several post offices, and then reported on the problem to Stalin. He said: "Sir, the stamp is really of international quality.

The problem is, our citizens are spitting on the wrong side!"

Just what are the twelve days of Christmas?

The twelve days of Christmas are the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6th), which is when the three wise men supposedly arrived with their gifts for the Christ child. There was a time when gifts were given on each of these days, but not much anymore, although some families
still follow this tradition. Today, many people are familiar with this period due to the popular song. The gifts seem rather elaborate and silly and there's a prevalent e-mail message that pokes fun at them. However, there's evidence
that it was originally written with a serious purpose. It seems that Catholics in England between 1558 and 1829 were prohibited to practice their faith either in public or private, effectively making it illegal to be Catholic. It was during this period that "The Twelve Days of Christmas" was written as a sort of "catechism song" or memory aid to help young Catholics learn the basics of their faith. The song's gifts had hidden meanings to the teachings of the
Catholic faith. For example, the "true love" mentioned in the song doesn't refer to an earthly suitor, but to God Himself. The "me" who receives the presents refers to every baptized person. Following is a list of the 12 symbols with
their meanings:
- A Partridge in a pear tree - The One true God revealed in
the person of Jesus Christ

- Two Turtle Doves - The Old and New Testaments

- Three French Hens - Faith, Hope and Charity

- Four Calling Birds - the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists

- Five Golden Rings - The first Five Books of the Old Testament, the "Pentateuch" which contain the law condemning us of our sins.

- Six Geese A-laying - The six days of creation

- Seven Swans A-swimming - The seven gifts of the Holy
Spirit, the seven sacraments of the Catholic faith

- Eight Maids A-milking - The eight beatitudes

- Nine Ladies Dancing - The nine Fruits of the Spirit

- Ten Lords A-leaping - The ten commandments

- Eleven Pipers Piping - The eleven faithful apostles

- Twelve Drummers Drumming - The twelve points of doctrine
in the Apostle's Creed

A glass of beer

-- especially a glass of ale or stout -- might help
protect a person against cataracts.

"Rich, dark ales and stout like Guinness contain a lot of
antioxidants," John Trevithick, professor of biochemistry at the
University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, said, "and
antioxidants appear to prevent cataract development."
In research presented Monday at an international meeting of
chemistry societies in Honolulu, Trevithick said animal studies showed antioxidants could reduce the formation of cataracts by as much as 50 percent. "We found that the dark beers had the most antioxidants, the malt beers also have quite a bit as well," he said.
However, Trevithick cautioned that too much beer isn't going to help a person avoid cataracts. He said when people have one drink a day, there is a 50-percent risk reduction; with two drinks the protective even slips to 10 percent, and then risk of cataracts increases if a person has more than two drinks a day
